Conference Venue

The Conference Venue is at the Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche (MIC), Faenza (RA).


The MIC is situated in the heart of the old town and hosts the largest collection of artistic ceramics in the world. The MIC is a unique hub for ceramic art crafts, it preserves a unique ceramic heritage as a great treasure for mankind, regrouping the ceramic art of several cultures around the world, from 4000 BC to the present day, from the masterpieces of Italian Renaissance maiolica to 20th century art and design, with masters such as Picasso, Matisse, Chagall, Legér, Dali, Burri and Fontana. 

The MIC is also engaged in projects that serve society and its sustainable development, to promote knowledge, critical thinking, participation and community well-being.

TRAVEL

Faenza is easily accessible by car as it is a major highway exit on the A14 Bologna-Taranto, by train (3-4 hours from Milan, 3-5 hours from Rome) and by flight through the airport of Bologna (about 60 km from Faenza). Faenza has 3 major bus lines serving the whole city. A bus stop is 100 metres from MIC.

Faenza is a medium-small town, and all the accommodation facilities are located within or close to the city center, at short distance from the conference venue.

Faenza is a charming medieval town located in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy. Faenza is worldwide renowned for its artistic heritage and exquisitely crafted artistic ceramics, which can be found along the numerous art workshops scattered along the streets of the city center. The artistic tradition of Faenza was also the basis for the development of technical and advanced ceramic materials, particularly ceramics for health applications, which are among the key research activities of the Institute of Science, Technology and Sustainability for Ceramics of the National Research Council.
